The 2023 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) has been held in Shanghai from July 6 to 8. The opening ceremony of the conference introduce that the Chinese AI industry is booming, the scale of the core industry has reached RMB 500 billion, the number of enterprises has exceeded 4,300, and innovations have continued to emerge.

In addition to mentioning the above industrial data, Ms. Xu Xiaolan, vice minister of China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, also stated at the opening ceremony that the AI infrastructures of China has accelerated its deployment, and its computing power ranks second in the world; and other major projects are accelerating, with more than 2.8 million 5G base stations have been built. In addition, with the in-depth expansion of integrated applications, more than 2,500 digital workshops and smart factories have been built. After intelligent transformation, the research and development cycle has been shortened by about 20.7%, and the production efficiency has increased by about 34.8%, the rate of defective products was reduced by about 27.4%, and the carbon emission was reduced by about 21.2%.

This year is the sixth consecutive year that Shanghai has held the WAIC. The theme of this conference is "Intelligent Connectivity, Generating Future", attracting more than 1,400 participants including domestic and foreign scholars, entrepreneurs, and representatives of international organizations.

The number of exhibitors and the exhibition area are all unprecedented the most. The 50,000 square meters exhibition area covers core technologies, smart terminals, application empowerment, and cutting-edge technologies; including large-scale models, chips, robots, and intelligent driving etc. More than 400 exhibitors were participating, and more than 30 new products are exhibited for the first time.

Artificial intelligence products can also be applied in the field of intelligent security.
